CNA Standards
Washington-certified nursing assistants (CNAs) provide a higher level of professional care than unlicensed caregivers. We ensure every caregiver in our agency meets the rigorous requirements set by the Washington State Department of Health.
Requirement
Washington Standards
Education
Minimum 120 hours of classroom and clinical instruction in nursing fundamentals.
Examination
Passing the Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification Exam (NACCE).
Background Check
Verified criminal history check and fingerprinting through the Washington State Department of Health.
Continuing Education
Required 12 hours of continuing education every 12 months to maintain certification.
Direct Supervision
Must be supervised by a licensed RN or LPN in the field to ensure patient safety.
Training Verification
Direct verification of training hours and clinical competency by the Washington State Board of Nursing.
The Standard
Unlicensed caregivers often provide companionship and light assistance. While these services can be helpful, they lack the specialized training required to manage medical needs, mobility, or complex hygiene routines safely and effectively.
The Advantage
Washington-certified CNAs are trained to provide professional, skilled care. They are equipped to handle complex medical tasks, ensure safety during transfers, and maintain the dignity and comfort of your loved one with expert precision.
